Komorebi Matcha

Silky and smooth premium green tea for daily drinking

Taking its name from the Japanese term describing the effect of sunlight filtering through a tree's leaves, Komorebi Matcha embodies the clean and green flavors of Mother Earth. Produced on a small tea farm from organically-grown tea leaves that have been stone-ground into a fine powder, it offers a light astringency, sharp texture and lingering freshness.

Contents: Drinking-grade matcha (green tea powder)

Origin: Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan

Tasting Notes: Green apple, grass, umami, Brussel sprouts

During thirteenth-century Japan, Buddhist monks, who had long been drinking matcha to remain alert during meditation, introduced the tea to samurai warriors as a pre-battle beverage for increased energy and endurance.

The sophistication and solemnity of the ritualistic Japanese tea ceremony aligned perfectly with the noble way of life of the Samurai and provided yet another method to discipline the mind and body – an essential component to becoming a successful warrior.

Today, matcha continues to be revered worldwide for its abilities to enhance focus and countless health-promoting nutrients.

Grown organically on a small tea farm that aims to create an agricultural system that coexists with the surrounding natural environment, our Komorebi Matcha emobodies the clean and green flavors of Mother Earth. With a light astringency; a grassy, fruity aroma; and subtle notes of green apple and brussel sprouts, it makes for a delightful daily drinker.

Gachi Grower Wazuka Komorebi Matcha

For more than 300 years (and eight generations), the family of our partner grower in Wazuka has been cultivating premium teas.

In the 1980s, the family’s tea master at the time was made aware of the high levels of pesticides in his blood. Soon thereafter, he made it a priority to begin growing tea in a safe and natural way.

Since then, the family has utilized organic and non-pesticide cultivation, aiming to create an agricultural system that coexists with the natural environment of the surrounding mountain scenery.

Today, the family’s teas, including our Komorebi Matcha, are certified by the USDA, EU and Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS).

HOT

  1. Pour 2oz of water heated to 170° F over 1 tsp (2 scoops) of sifted matcha.

COLD

Tea is packaged in Japan in a heat-sealed foil bag and then stored in a recyclable design tin.
