During the Aztec Empire, it was believed that cacao seeds were a gift from the gods. Cacao was so valued, in fact, that it was utilized as a form of currency, and was an ingredient in a drink consumed during important religious ceremonies and on special occasions.
We pay tribute to this beloved crop in our Choco Loco, a tantalizing tea that would please even the pickiest of deities. Black tea leaves grown organically in the tea garden of our Colombian grower partners are blended with cacao sourced from local cooperatives and small producers from Tumaco, Colombia, a region known for producing a varietal of the finest cocoas in the world.
The result is a naturally-flavored tea that offers a unique flavor experience: sweetness from the black tea balanced with the bitterness of cacao. Add a bit of milk or milk alternative for a creamy and luxuriant treat – the perfect dessert tea to have on hand when your sweet tooth strikes.

Nestled some 6,000 feet above sea level within the Andean cloud forest ecosystem, the small tea garden of our Colombian partner growers was established with the aim of growing excellent tea while simultaneously protecting the environment and making a positive impact on the local community.
Located in Colombia’s biogeographic region of Chocó and surrounded by a protected rainforest, the garden produces exceptionally good tea, which owes its flavors to the region’s unique terroir.
Their tea is grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil that naturally promotes lush tea plant growth and extraordinary biodiversity. Additionally, the garden’s proximity to the Equator (which lies just south of Colombia’s border with Ecuador) and the region’s consistent climate and plentiful rainfall results in an abundant production of remarkable tea throughout the year.
Furthermore, our partner growers lead a number of initiatives that aim to progress the community including ones that improve education, infrastructure, recreational opportunities, and access to technology in the local township.
For these reasons, we’re proud to call them our partners and we’re excited to share with you their innovative naturally flavored teas including our Choco Loco and Wish You Were Here.
