Did you know that like much of Gachi’s packaging and shipping materials, our signature design tins are made from recycled steel and can easily be recycled?
But why recycle when you can upcycle (aka reusing in a new way)?
Upcycling your empty tea tins is not only beneficial for the environment, but also allows you to get your creative juices flowing and save some green. The sky’s the limit when it comes to all the different ways in which you can reuse your empty tea tins, but we’ve got a few suggestions to get you started.
Read on for 10 ways to upcycle your tea tins.
Keep tea fresh: One of the easiest ways to reuse your empty tins is by continuing to use them for their original purpose – storing tea, of course. Gachi’s teas are now available in refill bags that allow you to replenish your tin and reduce waste.
Start an herb garden: Gachi’s tins make an excellent vessel for growing fresh herbs. (HGTV has an easy-peasy YouTube tutorial to show you how.) Keep your tea tin herb garden on a kitchen windowsill with plenty of natural sunlight and watch it come to life!
Make flights a breeze: Got a long flight ahead? Store your carry-on essentials such as ear plugs, sleeping mask, gum, hand sanitizer and perhaps even a sachet of tea into one of our empty tea tins. It’ll slip perfectly into your backpack’s water bottle pocket, saving you from having to dig through your bag every time you need something.
Food storage: Our tea tins were designed to keep tea fresh, meaning they’ll keep other food items fresh, too. Use them to store spices, dried herbs, coffee, rice and baking supplies. They also make a portable snack container for nuts, granola, cookies and other on-the-go snacks.
Create your own candle: Save money and reduce waste by making your own candles in one of our tea tins. Our stylish labels will only enhance the aesthetic of your creation!
Take the headache out of road trips: Store small toys like Legos and cars and slip the tin right into the back of the seat for easy access.
DIY gift boxes: Gachi’s tea tins can be upcycled into unique and eye-appealing boxes for smaller items such as jewelry, gift cards or even homemade cookies and candies. You can wrap them in scrapbooking paper or fabric and tie them with a bow or spray paint them in colors to match the occasion.
Clear up bathroom counter space: Is your bathroom counter entirely too cluttered? Stash your personal products (think Q-tips, cotton balls, makeup brushes and feminine hygiene products) in our perfectly-sized tins to instantly organize your bathroom.
Tidy up your desk: Gachi’s tins are the perfect size and shape to be repurposed as desk organizers. Storing supplies such as pencils, pens, highlighters and scissors in labeled tins will keep your workspace neat and orderly.
Hide items: Need to get a clandestine item (maybe your candy stash, a surprise gift or even a valuable piece of jewelry) out of sight? No place is more obscure than a tea tin!
See... the possibilities for upcycling tea tins are endless!
